K, so I'm in movie mode now. (Srry for taking up the home page) =/

Batman Begins was pretty fucking awesome. One of the better (if not best) "Batman" films ever made.
The Dark Knight is the sequel.

The trailer is also now out. (In front of "I Am Legend" in theaters or online here)

I'm a comic geek, and it's not hard to please me with any comic book related films.
This just looks okay so far. I guess I was expecting better from the first real preview.
I'm sure the film will be amazing though.

A lot of controversy stirred when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker. I didn't mind though.
I've always liked him as an actor, and I wasn't worried he couldn't pull off the portrayal, yet also make it his own.
He looks pretty good and very wicked. The make up job with his scarred face will look insane once his character smiles devilishly.
Sadly, they didn't really show that in this preview! I feel ripped off.

This comes out July 18, 2008.

Hm, being a huge Batman fan, I dunno how to feel about this film.
I had a few issues with the last Batman film. ( Especially with the Batmobile. )

I just hope that this film isn't too much of a disappointment.

Yeah, I wasn't too enthusiastic about the "BatTank" either.

Plus, Maggie Gyllenhaal is taking over the part that was originated by Katie Holmes in the first film.
Definitely not too stoked about that.

My bad. I did a fast look and I couldn't find anything with that title.

Yeah, fuck the BatTank.
And in the last film I wasn't too happy with R'as Al Ghul.
The whole character change thing, annoys me, I don't like when that happens in films/series.

I wasn't too excited about the Tumbler at first, but I got into it kind of quickly actually. I mean, when you think about it, how many times has the Batmobile changed it's appearance? At least three. Besides, it was Batman, year one. He started out with his stuff not entirely refined. The thing that killed me was that he didn't have the yellow around the batsymbol on his chest. In his first year he had it there to attract attention away from his not-bulletproof cowl. Oh well though, you can't have everything (where would you put it?)

I'm also kind of dissapointed that Christian Bale won't be playing Batman in the Justice League movie. I seriously think he's a great batman.

Well, the Justice League movie is an entirely different entity.
Every character in it is being newly cast, and it's in its own universe... standing apart from any other comic films (the Batman franchise, as well as the Superman one).

That film may be shady. It's a complete young cast ( I thought it was supposed to be "Justice League", not "Teen Titans Doubt ) and it's also being produced and filmed from a rushed script (due to the writer's strike).

Not a good start.

I almost peed myself watching the trailor online. Heath Ledger honestly creeps me out as the Joker. My bf is like a huge Batman fan, too, and thinks he'll do a great job in the role.

I fucking loved this trailer. Batman Begins restarted the universe, I think. Not just the Bat-Universe, either. The universe. And, the Dark Knight looks like it's gonna be one of those sequels that doesn't blow. Ledger seems to be portraying the Joker as a Tommy Lee Jones' Twoface with the Joker's personality, and that's awesome. Just...the way he moves when Batman tears past on the bike is...fucking fantastic.

Also: Gyllenhaal kicks the living shit outta Katie Holmes. So...I'm willing to forgive the recast.

Everything you have said I was going to say. Katie Holmes was not that great, and Maggie is absolutely fantastic. I am SO pumped about this movie. I have watched the trailer multiple times.

Wow. Old thread...
But, there are no current new ones that I saw.

So, yea... This movie comes out in a matter of days.

Does anyone else get insanely awesome chills sent down their spine everytime they see a preview, or is it just me?
I don't think I've been so anxiously awaiting a movie as I have with this one.
It just looks to be so perfect in every way.

...And not just for the late Heath Ledger's oh-so-amazing portrayal of the Joker.
Overall; the film... the cast... the directing... the action... the effects.
The trailers have been leaving me in awe.
Lets not forget the music! Hans Zimmer's score in the previews is what helps increase the excitement.

Anyway, to continue... I spent all of yesterday (off from work), doing what I do, and tracking down the cast of the film.
"The Dark Knight" had it's worldwide premiere, at Lincoln Center's IMAX theatre, here in NYC.
Between the premiere, the after-party, and the hotels... I was fortunate enough to meet cast members;
Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal & Michael Caine.
(Morgan Freeman was the only douchebag)

The movie comes out Friday. It's already being hailed as selling the most advanced tickets ever.
I tried to buy tickets for opening day at the very IMAX theatre, the premiere was held at, like 2 weeks ago.
I failed. The entire fuckin' weekend for that IMAX theatre was already sold out. =[
2 weeks in advance!!! wtfux.

I settled to buying tickets to see it on Friday at a regular theatre. I'll hit up the IMAX for round 2.

And for those who have IMAX theatres near you, try to check it out. It will heighten your experience. This film also actually used special IMAX cameras to film a few key scenes of the film.

Word.

K, I'm done being geeky. Until I review the movie after Friday anyway, lol.

Batman is one of my favourite comic characters. I've always had a weak spot comic-based movies such as this one.

I think that Christian Bale has done a way better job on Batman adaptation than any other actor. George Clooney was good but Bale is totally overwhelming. Val Kilmer ... well, he doesn't cut it. I think that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, whenever I watch this, are brilliant.

Win.

But yea... it's already breaking records as the highest grossing advanced ticket sales... well, ever.

The current highest grossest opening weekend, held by "Spider-Man 3" (at $150 million) currently held the advanced ticket sale record too.
"The Dark Knight" beating that, suggests it could be poised to break the all-time opening record as well.

The local movie theater near me is showing the film in 6 different theaters after midnight tonight, to accomodate the fast selling of tickets.

The NY Daily News also gave the film 5 out of 5 stars... probably one of the best reviewed movies of the year.
In addition to hailing the film as epic, they claim (which is obvious) Heath Ledger's performance steals the film.

I just got home from the midnight showing. It completely blew my mind.

Heath deserves every single damn award from the Oscars for his performance, the same would be said if he were still alive. We lost a brilliant actor.
