Not to sure, but I believe you still get charged anyway.
I pay 20 a month for the sidekick unlimited package, just to have unlimited texting, instant messaging, etc.
I would have to pay 15c per text to whoever I text in Canada while doing it from the U.S. Basic unlimited package might cost the same or more. When you receive a text from someone in Canada, you don't get charged.

For the record, folks with Rogers? Do NOT call your local video/cable/wireless location. We get very upset with that. Seriously. We might even call you names like "meaniehead" when we get off the phone. Call customer service. 1-888-rogers1. Thank you.
I guess that really goes for any provider. Don't call the place you bought the phone from. We can't do a thing.

Also, as a disclaimer, we don't really call people names, I swear. We ...appreciate, for lack of a better word, the calls, and politely redirect. It IS best that everyone knows that the local stores have very little sway in contractual dealings beyond inception, though.
And, most cable/wireless stores are closed on Sundays (Across the nation), no matter what customer service tells you. Mine is the only one that stays open that I'm aware of. Anywhere.
