obvious answer would be IM's.... i dont know of any phones that would have IMs and not text but still no need for the uber hostility.

It's not a CELL PHONE. It's a media player -- you can access Google Talk and Yahoo messenger, but that's it. You can use it as a "phone" if you use Skype.

So no, you cannot "text" with it.
