iTunes converts EVERYTHING for you.
Automatically.
Offers you a store where you can purchased whatever content you want.
TV shows.
Movies.
Music videos.
Albums.

You can get iPods with GPS, Maps, Stocks, Weather.
some of them could probably wipe your ass if you wanted it to.

You can access Wi-Fi signals, use VPN.
Wireless sync to other devices, computers, Mac or PC.

You can get up to 160g of space for a reasonable price.

They have great warranties. Cover everything but accidental damage.

If you wanted to know about a decent MP3 player, then iPod is more than decent.

If you didn't want our opinions, consult your priest next time.
Well, what if I don't want to use their store? I got a free trial (like 1 or 2 songs on this thing I got from work) of their store and it sucks - everything I tried to search for gave me no results.

The store is an option.
Not a necessity and hardly a reason not to get an iPod.
You're never pleased with anything, so I don't even know why you bother posting.
Either you get an iPod, or a 3rd party one.
We honestly don't care either way.

Don't search for shit, then.

You don't need to use the store. Add a folder to the library with a file iTunes doesn't like, it'll ask you if you want to copy (this is not an option) and convert (m4a? mp3? Okay!), and initially, where to.
Conversely Winamp communicates with ipods, as well.

What the fuck are you using wma for, anyway? What a piece of shit.

This thread almost made me cry, and it definitely wasn't because of the initial post.

Wow.

In the beginning, I said "no ipods" and instead of being semi-mature and suggesting things that aren't iPods, it turned into everyone arguing over why I don't like iPods. Jews don't eat pork, so are you going to argue with them over why they don't eat it?

OMG LAWLS BUY AN IPOD. DEY ARE GUD EBVERY1 HAVE WON! NO REASON NOT TO HAS AN IPOD

She's just stating how dumb you are for thinking you hate iPods.
For no actual reason at all.

Well...Seeing as you oppose iPod, I'd go with the Insignia Kix.
It's small and easy to use && you can drag your music files to it.
Small screen though...that kinda sucks.
Less than $40 at WalMart.

I'd have to say iPod but since you don't want one, I'd recommend a Creative Zen.

...That's a pretty sexy Sony product. What would possess you to replace such a well-established brand?

Looks about the size of a travel bottle for tylenol. Sleek, and ergonomically designed for having other shit in your pockets.

It's annoying because I have to cycle through all the music to get to the song I want (fortunately I can go backwards), all the settings revert to default every time I charge it, and I can't browse my music while listening to a song.
