Well, what if I don't want to use their store? I got a free trial (like 1 or 2 songs on this thing I got from work) of their store and it sucks - everything I tried to search for gave me no results.
The store is an option.
Not a necessity and hardly a reason not to get an iPod.
You're never pleased with anything, so I don't even know why you bother posting.
Either you get an iPod, or a 3rd party one.
We honestly don't care either way.

You don't need to use the store. Add a folder to the library with a file iTunes doesn't like, it'll ask you if you want to copy (this is not an option) and convert (m4a? mp3? Okay!), and initially, where to.
Conversely Winamp communicates with ipods, as well.

In the beginning, I said "no ipods" and instead of being semi-mature and suggesting things that aren't iPods, it turned into everyone arguing over why I don't like iPods. Jews don't eat pork, so are you going to argue with them over why they don't eat it?
