You obviously have no idea about Mushroomhead then. Go through their music, it's a blend between industrial music, alternative rock and heavy metal.

Nu metal with synths ... what would you call it? That's like saying, "The Mahavishnu Orchestra is not jazz-fusion but jazz combined with progressive rock". Industrial music is somewhat blending rock/metal with electronic music. For the derivative to be industrial metal or industrial rock, the elements of music being mixed with eletronic music is to be referred to.
