Low fat mayo, low fat butter, low fat bread and a couple 2 liters of Diet Coke. Half the flipping grocery carts in half the flipping grocery stores I go. And of course the ever grazing salad bar cattle.

When you get a computer error, what do you do? Read up on it or ask someone knowlegeable yes? When you want to try to make a new dish, you read up a recipe and follow the instructions?

So why is it when people want to lose weight, they just buy low fat salad dressing and never once study up on how to lose weight? Fat in food isn't what is keeping the pounds on. Should be kinda obvious now, no? After 10 years of diet coke and low fat products and you have GAINED weight... wouldn't you figure something was wrong?

No problem with people who have some excess weight. Big problem with people unhappy about it and yet doing the same stupid thing over and over and over again for decades. Figure it out already and learn, you know? You can eat until you feel like POPPING and STILL lose weight if you just read a little. Glycemic index anyone? So many things that work... please get it through your head!

LOW FAT PRODUCTS ARE A MARKETING TOOL FROM PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SELL YOU SHIT. They WANT you to remain overweight. Skinny people DON'T BUY THEIR LOW FAT PRODUCTS. Fucking figure it out already, please... and stop being a sucker.

It really does piss me off on 2 fronts. One being that marketers deliberately fuck people like that knowing full well they are contributing to health complications and early death with the deception. But hey... long as they make a buck.

The other being... well? Einstein said it best:

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

One word.

Bowflex!

Diet foods do not equal healthy foods. Overweight people need a good amount of healthy foods, complemented with exercise, in order to lose weight. Common knowledge, right?

Hell, you can even skip out on exercising if your diet is right. Avoiding starvation mode where your body stores everything as fat because you aren't eating meals regularly enough, and not overloading on bread, chips, rice, pasta and sugar etc. Exercise certainly speeds the process though.

Although I agree with Dan, I do not agree with yourself Heather I'm afraid.

In terms of losing weight there are so many deciding factors, your natural body shape, starting metabolism and evolved metabolism.

Some people are naturally never gonna put on weight, however, the key to losing weight is not eating "healthily" but finding your own personal balance. Some people can eat all day long and not put on a pound because their metabolism is so fast that they need to eat 4 meals just to maintain breathing. Others shouldn't eat more than once a day because their rate is so slow that they'll be using that energy for the whole day.
If you under eat you put on weight, if you over eat you put on weight. It's such a fine line to find.

Neither do I a lot of times unfortunately. I really need to mind that. I can't afford to lose strength. Muscle is fast to lose, hard to gain, yet despite that I zone out and get caught up in crap and go an entire day without eating.

I've given up soda, coffee and tea. I don't think drinking any of those was good for me..especially in the amounts in which I was drinking them.

i don't think I was ever into low-fat foods when trying to lose weight. I simply cut out the sugary stuff and ate more vegetables!
Now that I'm an OK weight, and just trying to 'stay' so, I can be more lenient anyway.
My main problem with sticking to high vegetable diets is that I have a 17 YO son who does NOT enjoy eating veg! I recently wrote a blog post about how I have been slipping those vegetables in to our diet if anyone is interested.
