I'm sorry. I stand by my reasoning.
There is law, but the enforcers are corrupted themselves. Just think about it. You people are only looking at it as "Who took whose life". As I always say, you only take into consideration the apparent facts and base your judgement on it. I can only laugh at this generation that's supporting someone who, in a way, tried to take someone's earnings away. That's his life, too.
Again, stop dwelling on apparency.

Because your reasoning is unbiased, it's based on not siding with anyone. Which is what makes you wise, but taking someones life compared to taking someones daily earnings is quite a big difference. Don't get me wrong, I think as you do, I take no sides, but I do take into consideration peoples feelings. What that kids family had to go through, because of one stupid mistake. You've made mistakes in life, I'm sure, should you be brutally punished for each?
Basically people base a situation on either compassion or reasoning. Doesn't make anyone's opinion less knowledgeable than the next...
I dunno...
Only thing I loathe about people is that they show compassion towards a person and/or situation but have no real feelings towards the matter at hand. As if they only act this way because it's how you're "suppose" to act...
 -- Did you see that?
No...
It's probably for the best...

Mistake? Day's Earnings? What are you talking about? Why are you diminishing the actions of the assailant in this case? when you premeditate a robbery you are not making a mistake! you are premeditating a felony!!! this degenerate premeditated an armed robbery!!!! that is no mistake.
why are you siding with the crook? he brought this all upon himself!
what about the mother of the clerk? did the perpetrator think about what would happen to the clerk's mom if he would have pulled the trigger killing the clerk?

How does one know that that was his first ever mistake? How do we know that the money he's hoicked from that counter is not going to be spent on weed and/or alcohol? He might have the time of his week but someone else might suffer because of it. Why?
And ... what his family would go through? If his parents had paid more attention to their kid, he wouldn't have been like this. So, basically, they're to pay for their indifference as well, as they couldn't handle it. My friend got cornered like this, once, after he had left his work at night. It was his payday (after a whole month) as well, so he was quite happy. He took the money out of his bank account for use somewhere and whatnot. On his way to his car, a few hoodlums assaulted him and snatched his wallet which had all his contact/credit/other cards and the money in cash.
Just imagine how he might've felt.

True enough, but I'm just making my opinion based on the actions that did take place. We can all imagine what might have happened, but it didn't...
I'll agree, things could have turned out grim for the clerk and maybe he did what he had to, I'm just saying don't fully give an answer on something that you didn't actually participate in. Meaning, were you there? A million things could have taken place during those events. In the end everyone could have left there alive that night. Who knows...

i know such a guy who robbed an armored car. surprise, it wasn't as easy as he thought.
he went to jail.
but if he would have been killed, then oh well. life is a bitch.
i side with the clerk and armed guards that protect stuff.
I wasn't being like Hitler when I said that killing them is okay. Your tone is more "kill them and celebrate"-ish. Get your fucked-up head straight, old man.

He was sixteen, yea, that's plenty old enough. You must have forgotten what peer pressure was like back then. I'll agree, he made a mistake and he did pay for it, but he didn't have to die.

Alright, gonna throw in my two cents and let you guys bitch about it.
First, I'd like to state that I'm in no way supportive of Johnny Militia, and I'm pretty sure he needs counselling. People that are overly aggressive about gun rights make those of us who casually own a firearm seem like backwoods dumbasses. I sincerely dislike this man.
That being said, how many of you honestly know how it feels to have a gun pointed at you? The way you view things changes immediately when you know that you life is literally hinged on whether this person moves his finger backward half an inch. You don't really think "Oh, this person has a family" or "How will his mother feel?" You do however quickly deduce that the only way to live is for them to either be disarmed or die. It's a shitty situation, but the fact is that you really just shouldn't rob someone at gunpoint... or actually ever put anyone at gunpoint. When I was 14 I lived next to a kid the shot his mother on accident because he was trying to scare her into giving him money. The same thing could have happened to the clerk.
Shooting a man in the back is entirely unethical, and the clerk should probably be tried for it. At that point the danger was over and he should have just called the cops. That was probably the result of fear, anger, and embarassment.
I don't think that the clerk should have to wait for the thief to shoot first to shoot back though. Self defense is called that for a reason, you're protecting yourself from an immediate danger... and having a gun in your face is pretty much as immediate as danger gets. I'm not exactly fond of waiting for the bad guy to start popping off rounds at me before I shoot, but then again in the military we follow escalation of force.
Still.... killing a guy running away on his bike? That's pretty fucking pathetic.

peer pressure? tell me about peer pressure! what about all the other kids in his neighborhood that resist peer pressure and DO NOT rob stores? what about them?
no, we DO NOT agree. he DID NOT make a MISTAKE!!! there is no mistake when you point a gun at someone's face and threaten to rob them with the threat of deadly force.

Personally, I think killing anyone who hasn't caused you bodily harm is wrong.
We have no idea why this guy did what he did. I can't say he could've had a good reason, but he might've felt he needed to do what he did to get by in life.
As for taking the clerks earnings, don't be ridiculous. Money stolen is always handled by insurance, not taken from any specific person.
Ghost, you sound pretty sadistic, like you're happy someone is dead. Sure, he doesn't sound like a very top notch person, but no one deserves to have their life taken away from them. Maybe you need professional help.
I believe he should've been put in jail. You say it wasn't his first offence... The more offences, the longer you go away for.

you are close but not close enough.
there was no guarantee that the crook wasn't coming back. you are not at the scene. you have no idea how it went down.
the clerk didn't just casually walk out and shoot the degenerate. this is the heat of a robbery. he probably ran out to catch the punk, the punk may have drawn his weapon, or made a move for it. the clerk was probably trying to catch the thief fearing the moron was going to draw the weapon he just saw.
the clerk's life was in danger even when he shot the offender because the offender could have had an accomplice in the area. the clerk could have been shot by a fellow robber the moment he walked out of the store.
my finger points entirely at the robber. he brought this all on himself so to hell with him.

i am not tossing a celebration, but i will not put the clerk down for shooting a degenerate who threatened his life by committing a forceful felony.
get it straight kiddo. don't forget to get mommy to tuck you in.
You couldn't come up with comebacks better than these? I expected something wittier than that.
"i can hear the violins playing", "to hell with the crook", "but if he would have been killed, then oh well. life is a bitch".
What does that sound like? "Oh, he died? Wahh wahh". It's most definitely something along the lines of celebration. You shouldn't be so apathetic about your countrymen and act like you don't care if they die. That's not how you propose reforms in a state, you fucking twit. Step out of the field of radical views that you're harbouring and then make a comment.
Kid? ... lol. Don't you feel ashamed?
