since we have a president debate. why not the propositions, too? i'd like to read where everyone stands on them.
http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_j.htm

my votes go as follows w/ reasons:

prop 1a: no - although i would love that SOMEDAY, i don't feel like paying MORE taxes for it.
prop 2 - yes - i don't care how much more i have to pay for groceries. i can not stand the thought of animals being treated horribly.
prop 3 - yes - i'll be surprised if this doesn't pass. anything for the children, right?
prop 4 - yes - parents should be parents, and they should know what is happening in their child's life. parents need to be more involved these days.
prop 5 - im unsure about this. i'm leaning more towards no.
prop 6 - yes but no. i'll probably vote no, because it all comes down to the taxes i'd have to pay. eff that.
prop 7 - yes - renewable energy ftw.
prop 8 - no - i don't give a shit who marries who.
prop 9 - not sure on this one either.
prop 10 - no - i don't think this is priority right now, but we definitely need to head in this direction a couple of years from now.
prop 11 - no - politics is confusing enough. is this really neccessary?
prop 12 - yes - i see no harm, really.

They're California state-specific!

I actually read through all of them, and I agreed with all of your choices. I was hoping we could debate about it, too. Nuetral

The only one I cared enough to read about was proposal 08. I agree with your decision. I have four gay uncles, two of them were married yesterday in Cali after being together for 36 years.
I like this topic...but you have far too many props on your ballot for me to read, so I'll just do Michigan's. ;D

http://cruzweb.net/2008/10/20/2008-michigan-ballot-proposals/

proposal 01. Hell yes. I have a plethora of reasons.
proposal 02. Yes. If it can help people, I don't see why not.

you obviously don't have kids, but i believe that its inappropriate for my 6 year old son to think that its ok to kiss another boy on the mouth or more...and i would rather my daughters not be a bunch of carpet munchers...i do want grand kids you know...

And what's wrong with having adopted grand kids? I don't have a kid....nor do I ever really want one, but I know for a fact if I ever had a kid I'd much rather have them be happy and feel completely comfortable being who they are and with who they love no matter what.

Isn't it your responsibility as a parent to help your kids understand the world around them? You can't prevent people from being gay in public...and making gay marriage possible isn't going to affect that either.

The laws of the "bible" haven't been followed by many for quite sometime my good man... You may want your child to live a righteous lifestyle, that's all and good, but doesn't escape the fact that he will see and witness things he will not understand... You need to teach him regardless... What others do with their own lives is up to them, for you to judge them on one criteria of biased scrutiny is ignorance at it finest...

Vote for things that matter, within our nation... Preventing same sex marriages will not affect your life in the slightest, nor your child's... Whether or not this bill passes people will continue their lifestyles. Don't judge one man before ye judges thy self...

Fuck, I lost track of what I was talking about, damn ADHD... Big Grin

Gay is something one is, something one becomes and they don't have any control over it. It's because of many an environmental factors, but it changes the way the mind works, irreversibly. Would you punish your kid for that? Think about it.

I'm not saying it's right. It's not right because it's not natural and the environmental and societal conditions gave birth to these feelings, and it's not wrong because it's not the person's fault that he feels like that.

Marriage is a religious ceremony and therefor should be decided by different religions not the government. So if one religion says gay marriage is okay, then go for it. I do believe in civil unions, every couple should have equal same rights.

I've always found it ridiculous to base your religion on differentiating factors that only pertain to that of our current lifestyle(s)... Religion is to save ones self from whatever form of damnation that awaits them in the afterlife. It shouldn't be based on what we want or need in the physical realm...

That's why religions have set guidelines and laws to follow by. It's not for us to choose or alter those principles just so we feel comfortable in our everyday lives. Why you must make sacrifices in life to achieve that which will obtain you passage into whatever form of paradise awaits you.

Why I brought this up? I don't know... I'll just exit out of this thread now... Big Grin
